1. Learn to collaborate and not just contribute.
There is a difference. The best pros know how to contribute and collaborate at the same time. It’s as much about listening as it is about speaking.
2. Don’t ever get too married to your own ideas that you get stuck.
I have been in some awkward rooms with other co-writers who wouldn’t get off their idea even though no one else was feeling it. Be open to others’ ideas.
3. Don’t be afraid of failure.
You’re going to have to try lots of co-writes to figure out who you gel with. There’s really no such thing as failure. There is such a thing as learning who you connect and work well with.
